Wild bees insect hotel

When many people think of “bees,” they only think of one species – the honey bee. In addition to it, around 700 species of wild bees live in Austria - mostly individually, not in the state. They need native flowers and suitable nesting places. Because these are becoming scarce in our landscape, we are helping: We create safe nesting tubes with drilled wood in the park. Wild bees lay their eggs there, provide the brood with pollen and nectar - and overwinter protected until the next spring.

In the course of evolution, certain flowers have also adapted to certain wild bees. Some cannot survive without the others. This co-evolution means: If the bee species disappears, the corresponding plant species will also decrease.
